Itinerary

Day 1Monday - Istanbul Arrival

We’ll greet you at the airport and get you to your hotel – you’ll spend the night in the city that brings together East and West, Istanbul. Overnight: Istanbul Meals: Not available

Day 2Tuesday - Istanbul Classics

There may be no city on earth quite as beautiful – join your expert guide on a tour you’ll remember always….Marvel at the jewel encrusted treasures of Topkapi, tributes paid to the sultans for safe passage east and west, the Emperor Justinian’s Hagia Sophia covered in glorious mosaics, the Blue Mosque, the Byzantine Hippodrome (the bronze snake statue was a monument set up at Plataea to celebrate the Greek victory over the Persians; it’s traveled from Persia to Greece to Rome to here…).

You’ll end the day exploring the fabled Grand Bazaar – under this roof, one can find anything from linens to gold….

Overnight: Istanbul Meals: Breakfast – Lunch

Day 3Wednesday - Gallipoli - Dardanelles - Canakkale

Gallipoli

We’ll leave Istanbul very early at 06:30 am (please communicate the reception early departure to take a lunch box from hotel) and journey to Gallipoli, site of the tragic WWI battle and a pivotal instance in the creation of modern Turkey. You’ll walk the beach at ANZAC Cove, contemplate the cemetery at Chunuk Bair and see the conflict come to life at the Kabatepe War Museum. From here we’ll cross the Dardenelles for Canakkale and the site of a battle far in the past, Troy. We’ll have dinner and spend the night in Canakkale. Overnight: Çanakkale Meals: Breakfast – Dinner

Day 4Thursday - Troy - Pergamum - Kuşadası

Troy Walls
Visit Troy with its famous wooden horse, best known for being the setting of the Trojan War and many cities built on top of each other. Before arriving into Bergama, enjoy lunch. Then continue to Pergamum to visit the ancient Medical Centre in Asclepion or Acropolis and on to Kuşadası for an overnight.
Overnight: Kuşadası Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner

Day 5Friday - Ephesus

Our destination is Ephesus, home to one of the wonders of the ancient world. That wonder, the temple of Artemis, is fugitive, but the site remains one of the grandest in the eastern Mediterranean – the theatre is thought to have held 24,000 citizens.

Overnight: Kuşadası Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner

Day 6Saturday : Miletus - Priene - Didyma

Having been picked up from your hotel in Kusadasi, you’ll head south through the Turkish province of Aydin. Travel through time to the ancient city of Ionia, as this area of Asia Minor was known in Ancient Greece.
The first stop on your tour will be the Priene archaeological site. This historic Ionian town was one of the first cities in the coastal area of Anatolia to follow a strict street plan, designed with all of its public buildings within walking distance. Discover how its ancient inhabitants would have lived, visiting the remains of the main city square, known as an agora; admiring the theatre and the bouleuterion, the building where the democratic council of citizens (boule in Greek) would meet.
Continuing south, you’ll visit the nearby ruins of Miletus, considered to be the one of the greatest and wealthiest Ancient Greek cities. Marvel at the vestiges of its historic splendour as you explore its theatre, temples and the other public buildings that were frequented by emblematic figures such as Thales of Miletus, a great mathematician.
Next, you’ll head to the city of Didyma, where you’ll enjoy a traditional lunch in a local restaurant, before visiting the iconic Temple of Apollo, which is thought to be one of the world’s great temples dedicated to this deity. The temple was famed for its oracle… do you think they’d have been able to predict your future?
After exploring Didyma, you’ll make the return journey to Kusadasi.

First of all this trip is very well designed from the beginning to the end in terms of hotel selection, guide’s knowledge as well as the richness of the program. The only thing that I appreciated less was the arrival mess in Istanbul new airport. It was difficult to find the driver. I really appreciated.

We had a really good days with Eskapas guides. (There were many local guides). Excellent commentaries along the way. We are fascinated by Troy. A well excavated and wonderfully organised track around the ruins of the town spanning thousands of years of occupation. The museum is also well worth the visit. We were a little bit tired when we arrived to Kuşadası but then started our cruise. Excellent kitchen, excellent cabins and excellent crew. I liked a lot and recommend to every one who want to visit both Turkey and Greece.
