Flavours of Jordan | 5 Days

After picking you up from your hotel in Amman, we’ll head to the south of the country in the direction of Madaba. Do you know the link this city has with the Bible? Continuing onwards, we’ll visit the nearby Mount Nebo, an elevated ridge that is also entwined in these holy scriptures: according to the Bible, this is where Moses first caught a glimpse of the Promised Land. The ornate mosaics found here will help us decipher the region’s history.

Our next stop will be at Shoubak, also known as Montreal, a Crusader castle located in the Arabah Valley. Explore the Medieval fortress and discover its fascinating legends thanks to your expert guide, before having free time to eat lunch in Shoubak (not included). After a day full of history, we’ll make our way to Petra where we’ll spend the night after a delicious dinner at the hotel.

Energized with a good breakfast at our Petra hotel, we’ll devote this entire day to learning the secrets of one of the most incredible archaeological sites in the Middle East. Throughout our guided tour of Petra, we’ll discover the splendor and subsequent decline of the ancient Nabatean capital. Our route will begin at the Obelisk Tomb, a funerary monument and inexhaustible source of stories, theories, and curses. From there, we’ll walk through the Siq Gorge, a natural canyon a little less than a mile long that will lead us directly to the iconic façade of the Treasury of Petra, also known as Al Khazneh. The elaborate architecture of this rock-carved mausoleum and its majestic columns and sculptures will you in awe from first glance.

After a well-earned break at the archaeological complex (we suggest requesting a picnic from the hotel, as lunch isn’t included in the tour), we’ll continue learning about the fascinating history of the site, visiting the ruins of the Petra Theatre and the spectacular Deir Monastery. Our day will come to an end back at our hotel in Petra, where we’ll have dinner and rest ready for the next day.

Having eaten a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we’ll set off for our final day of sightseeing, making our first stop at Little Petra. This smaller archaeological site is home to tombs, houses and many other buildings dating back to the Nabateans. After exploring the little sister of Petra, we’ll head further into the south of Jordan to enjoy an exciting 4×4 Jeep tour of Wadi Rum desert. This two-hour thrill ride will take us bouncing through the arid landscapes of the Middle East, marveling at their magnificent natural rock formations and the vivid colors of the sand and stone.
