Conveniently situated in the Kokkari part of Samos Island, this property puts you close to attractions and interesting dining options. This 4-star property is packed with in-house facilities to improve the quality and joy of your stay. The hotel sits in a hillside garden with knockout views. Vast lawns are dotted not just with small bungalow clusters but cycads, cedars, hibiscus, subtropical hedges and palm trees. There’s a whirlpool and sauna, but no gym or spa. Wi-Fi is only (semi-)reliable around the pool and other common areas. The large-ish pool is boomerang-shaped and deep (2.5m). The Arion lays on three to six free shuttles daily (depending on season) to Kokkári and the closest beaches, Lemonákia and Tsamadoú. Abundant parking for hire vehicles.
The 108 rooms, mostly doubles plus a few triples, are arrayed over a main building or numerous, candy-hued remote bungalows (better). Number 507, in one of the ‘satellites’, has a full-on view of Kokkári and northeastern Sámos from a small balcony (with not much lateral privacy – true of most verandas here).
The room livery is predominantly green, gold and brown, contrasting with mottled pale floor tiles and dark-veneer chairs, table, bedside units and desk. The Arion musters a main buffet diner, with outdoor seating overlooking the pool and green hills, plus two bars (lounge, poolside). Breakfast has enough variety, with cereals, assorted breads, cheese, charcuterie, yogurt, bacon and eggs live cooked. Other meals are also highly praised, sparing you another trip down to Kokkári if you’re too knackered at day’s end. Pool bar snacks include salad, souvláki, grilled chicken fillet, tuna baguette; mostly Samian wines on the menu, though beers are more varied.
