Mykonos Bay Hotel
The 31-room, upscale Mykonos Bay Hotel is located on Megali Ammos beach, the closest beach to Mykonos Town. It offers spectacular views from all over the hotel, including from guest rooms, which all have terraces or balconies. Decor is traditionally Cycladic, but with modern and fresh twists including minimalist white interiors and contemporary art. It’s a 10-minute walk to town for dining and nightlife, and the hotel offers freebies including a breakfast buffet, a bottle of wine on arrival, airport and ferry terminal transportation, parking, and Wi-Fi. As an alternative, the Harmony Boutique Hotel is a little less costly and it has a mini-spa and fitness center.
Minimalist Cycladic style and architecture in a gorgeous setting
At first glance, this hotel embodies the traditional Cycladic style and architecture that’s typical of the region, with a white exterior and soft blue accents. Inside, however, things are a bit more contemporary, with an eye-catching white-on-white color scheme in everything from the whitewashed rattan furniture to contemporary couches and chairs set throughout the hotel’s lobby. It’s a serene space with tasteful sea-inspired artwork on the walls. There are marble and stone accents inside and out, and stone walkways lead to guest rooms, with plenty of spots along the way to stop and enjoy the gorgeous setting. Although the hotel welcomes children and business travelers, it mostly draws couples and is also popular for weddings.
Located on Megali Ammos beach, a 10-minute walk into town
The hotel is located on one of the most famous beaches in Mykonos, the bay of Megali Ammos. It’s the closest beach to the town of Mykonos, which itself is only a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Within a 15-minute walk are the famous windmills of Mykonos, as well as bakeries, a supermarket, pharmacy, and a kite-flying center that’s a perfect way to take in what is one of the windiest part of Mykonos. The famous and glamorous beaches of Psarrou and Paraga are about 10 minutes away by car, as is the Mykonos Airport. Mykonos’ new port and ferry terminal is a 10- to 15-minute drive from the hotel depending on traffic.
Mostly striking rooms, many with stunning views of the Aegean Sea
The majority of rooms at Mykonos Bay Hotel are striking, with the hotel’s signature white-on-white color scheme complemented by eye-catching contemporary abstract art over the beds in many rooms. There aren’t the largest rooms on the island, starting at just 22 square meters (237 square feet), but most are stylish and contemporary, with shelving and desks appearing to be molded onto the walls, and minimalist furniture. Unfortunately, not all rooms are as modern, so be sure to request a newer room. Additionally, while many rooms have stunning Aegean Sea or partial sea views, other rooms look out onto the hotel’s Mykonian garden. All rooms feature wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, minibars, and tea- and coffeemakers. Bathrooms are tiny, with stand-up showers and external sinks (which have contemporary fixtures and are hewn from a massive block of tan marble). Sea View rooms are the freshest and offer stunning views of the Aegean Sea, some from balconies with hot tubs. They also are equipped with Nespresso coffeemakers. Housekeeping comes twice-daily, and there is nightly turn-down service.
Two on-site restaurants with spectacular views, saltwater pool and beach, great space for weddings
The signature of Mykonos Bay Hotel is Alisahni Restaurant, which serves authentic Mediterranean and Greek cuisine for lunch and dinner with views of the Aegean. The American-style breakfast buffet also features Greek specialties — it’s included with bookings. At the pool bar, cuisine is Greek Mediterranean with French influences. The open-air setting is spectacular, with gorgeous views from inside or out. Sea-colored marble art accents the all-white and stone space. The adjacent saltwater pool is one of the biggest on the island, and it offers lounge chairs and day beds for relaxing poolside and taking in the magnificent views. The pool is a popular setting for weddings and can accommodate up to 500 people by using the adjacent gardens. Guests also can relax on the sandy beach just outside the hotel, with lounge chairs and umbrellas provided, or on the grassy lawn between the beach and the hotel. A computer is set up in the lobby for guests to use. Wi-Fi is free at the hotel, as is parking and transportation to the ferry terminal and airport.
