Few places in Greece are better for a city break than the cosmopolitan gem that is Greece’s second largest city:  Thessaloniki. The city is on the water. Indeed its heart pulses along the 5 km stretch running from the port to its spectacular new waterfront section – a series of themed gardens, statutes and arty sculptures with enough space for pram-pushers, joggers and cyclists to share space.  And we’ve designed a short , perfect package to discover  Thessaloniki by foot.

New Health Protocols for Traveling to Greece

No one has remained unaffected by the historically monumental event that was the covid-19 pandemic. We extend our sympathies to everyone that has suffered in his or her own way during these tumultuous times. As life is slowly starting to resume to normal rhythms, we must not throw caution to the wind, but take heed of the lessons we had to learn in the past few months moving forward.
The aftermath of an unprecedented global health crisis, finds the rules of travel vastly changed in a short amount of time. The governments of the countries least affected by this crisis have taken measures to ensure everyone’s safety as they are starting to welcome back travelers. Greece remains one of the safest destinations worldwide, having exceptionally handled a difficult situation and in the same spirit of responsibility has instituted a new public health protocol to retain the status quo.
We are here to help you navigate through the steps you need to take to travel to Greece in a safe and responsible manner. Starting July 1st 2020, the following guidelines have been issued by the Greek authorities:
Passenger Location Form (PLF)
The Passenger Locator Form (PLF) is a key element in the process. All travelers are obliged to complete their PLF at least 48 hours before entering the country, providing detailed information on their point of departure, the duration of previous stays in other countries, and the address of their stay while in Greece.
You can fill out the passenger location form here.
International Flights
The following protocol has been put in place for passengers traveling to any Greek airport via international flights:
Arrival of passengers at the arrival gate.
Transfer to the area where screening personnel are located and check the unique quick response (QR) code each passenger shows on their mobile phone screen or printed QR form.
Screening personnel direct passengers, depending on their QR code, either to the screening area or to the exit (baggage claim area or passport control). Until the screening results become available, passengers tested for the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 by a trained health team are obliged to self-isolate at the address of their final destination as declared on their passenger locator form (PLF). Upon completion of the screening, they are directed towards the exit.
All passengers must comply with all of the necessary preventive hygiene measures (use of masks and physical distancing).
Domestic Flights
For domestic flights, all passengers must comply with all of the necessary preventive hygiene measures (use of masks and physical distancing).
International Sea Travel
The following protocol has been put in place for passengers traveling to any Greek port from abroad:
Arrival of incoming passengers on foot at the main entry gate.
Incoming passengers arriving in vehicles are directed to the special entry gate.
All passengers are transferred to areas where screening personnel are located and check the unique quick response (QR) code each passenger shows on their mobile phone screen or printed QR form.
Depending on passengers’ QR code, screening personnel either direct them to the screening area or allow them to enter the country. Until the screening results become available, passengers who are tested for the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 by a trained health team are obliged to self-isolate at the address of their final destination as declared on their passenger locator form (PLF). Upon completion of the screening they are allowed to enter the country.
All passengers must comply with all of the necessary preventive measures (use of masks and physical distancing).
Domestic Sea Travel
As part of the guidelines announced by the Greek Authorities, all passengers must complete a “Pre boarding information” form and submit it to the vessel’s Chief Purser along with their ticket, when boarding, prior to the vessel’s departure. YWe will will send you the appropriate form prior to your departure. In addition, all passengers must comply with all of the necessary preventive hygiene measures (use of masks and physical distancing).
Land Transfers
In alignment with the Greek public health protocols, our fleet of land vehicles for domestic transfers has been equipped with all the necessary equipment to ensure our guests’ safety and comfort. Our personnel is equipped with protective masks and hand sanitizer is provided for passengers. Transfers are conducted at reduced capacity to observe social distancing during your trip.
Hotels
We have always utilized our decades of experience in the travel industry to select the finest hotels for our guests to stay in. In these times, this has become a matter of utmost importance. As a result, and with the safety of our guests at heart, we are only working with hotels from which we have been assured that health protocols are kept in their premises.
What happens with confirmed cases?
It’s always prudent to prepare for the worst, so in case an infection is confirmed, the Greek state will cover expenses related to hospitalization of visitors suffering from Covid-19 symptoms. This includes transfer to a hospital and medical costs as well as stay in a quarantine hotel if needed. In the event of a confirmed infection, close contacts of the case will be transferred to a separate quarantine accommodation at the expense of the Greek state. Remaining guests will continue their holidays.
Itinerary

Day 1Arrival to Thessaloniki

On arrival at the airport, port or train station, one of our drivers will be waiting for you to welcome you, transfer you to your hotel and offer some valuable information about the city.

The rest of the day will be free to relax and explore Thessaloniki at our own pace.

Day 2Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki’s Ano Poli

Free day to enjoy this magnificent city. Thessaloniki is the largest city in northern Greece and the second biggest in the country. Famous for its history, the dazzling shops, and vibrant nightlife. This was one of the most important cultural centers in the Byzantine era and one of the most multicultural cities in modern Greek history.

We recommend taking a boat ride in the Thermaic gulf which gives you a great panoramic view of the city.  Also, try the popular cream-filled bougatsas and the famous custard cream filled pastries, Trigona Panoramatos, which have become Thessaloniki’s trademark.

Day 3Thessaloniki Departure

After breakfast a the appointed time, one of our vehicles will drive you to the airport, port or train station and it is time to say farewell to the city.
