An early start unveils the breathtaking landscapes of the Italian countryside as we depart Rome by luxurious Gran Turismo coach. Our first stop is the serene, hilltop sanctuary of Assisi. Enclosed within ancient walls, this charming medieval town invites peaceful contemplation. After some free time for lunch (not included), we continue our journey north to the timeless jewel of Tuscany: Siena. Step into a living medieval masterpiece, a city renowned for its majestic Gothic architecture and the magnificent Piazza del Campo—a shell-shaped square considered one of the world’s most beautiful and the dramatic stage for the legendary Palio horse race. Wander its captivating cobblestone streets and feel the deep-rooted history.

We then proceed to the cradle of the Renaissance, Florence. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel, enjoy a delicious included dinner, and settle in for your overnight stay, ready to discover the artistic treasures that await.

Day 3Florence – The Cradle of the Renaissance

Italian Discovery
Italian Discovery: Florence, Ponte Vecchio arch bridge at twilight from Piazzale Michelangelo

After breakfast, prepare to be captivated on a guided tour of Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, where the world’s most brilliant artistic genius flourished. Your exploration begins at the heart of the city’s religious life: the breathtaking Piazza del Duomo. Here, you will witness an extraordinary open-air museum of marble masterpieces in white, green, and pink. Marvel at the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, crowned by Brunelleschi’s revolutionary Dome, which stands in graceful contrast to Giotto’s slender Bell Tower.

Admire the Baptistery, renowned for its glistening bronze doors, including the eastern gate so beautiful Michelangelo dubbed them the “Gates of Paradise.” Your journey through history continues to the political center of the city, the Piazza della Signoria, dominated by the austere, fortress-like Palazzo Vecchio and adorned with statues, including a replica of Michelangelo’s David.

The tour concludes at the Basilica of Santa Croce, resting in one of Florence’s most ancient squares. This church is the final resting place of great minds like Michelangelo, Galileo, and Machiavelli.

Following your immersion in art and history, sit down to a authentic lunch at a traditional Tuscan restaurant in the historic Piazza Santa Croce, savoring the robust flavors of the region.

The afternoon is yours to explore at your own pace. For those wishing to delve deeper into the city’s artistic wealth, we highly recommend an optional excursion to the Uffizi Gallery, one of the world’s greatest art museums, housing masterpieces by Botticelli, da Vinci, and Raphael.

Overnight: Florence. Meals: Breakfast – Lunch

Day 4Florence > Bologna > Venice – Porticoes, Piazzas, and Culinary Delights

Upon arrival, embark on a guided walking tour through its captivating historic center. Begin at Piazza Malpighi and stroll under the iconic, seemingly endless porticoes that lead you to the city’s vibrant heart: the adjoining Piazza del Nettuno and Piazza Maggiore. Here, you will admire the majestic fountain of Neptune and the imposing medieval architecture of the Palazzo del Podestà and the colossal Basilica of San Petronio, the world’s largest Gothic church built of brick.

Next, prepare for a true highlight as you immerse yourself in Bologna’s legendary culinary scene. Wander through lively food markets and past tempting street food stalls, absorbing the aromas and flavors that have earned this city its esteemed reputation. Your gastronomic journey culminates in an exclusive light lunch at a carefully selected local eatery, where you will savor authentic regional specialties.

After breakfast, a short transfer brings you to the heart of the floating city, St. Mark’s Square, where your Venetian adventure begins. Embark on a guided walking tour through this impossible marvel of architecture and engineering. You will explore the stunning square itself before delving into the magnificent Doge’s Palace. This Gothic masterpiece was more than a palace; it was the formidable symbol of the Venetian Republic’s power, serving as the residence of the Doge, the seat of government, and the halls of justice. Cross the infamous Bridge of Sighs, which connected the palace to the prisons and once echoed with the sighs of prisoners, including the legendary Casanova, catching their last glimpse of freedom.

To perfectly conclude your cultural immersion, your guide will invite you to a quintessential Venetian experience: a traditional aperitivo. Sip on a classic Spritz or a glass of sparkling Prosecco while sampling a selection of delicious cicchetti—Venetian tapas that are a true taste of local life.

The afternoon is yours to lose yourself in the maze of canals and discover hidden corners at your own pace. For those wishing to see more of the lagoon’s artistry, an optional excursion to the colorful island of Burano and the glass-blowing haven of Murano is highly recommended.

After breakfast, we bid a fond arrivederci to Venice and depart from Piazzale Roma, journeying south into the picture-perfect landscapes of Tuscany, a region celebrated worldwide for its rolling hills, ancient churches, medieval castles, and, of course, its exquisite wines.

Our destination is the famed Val di Chiana, where we stop in the magnificent hilltop town of Montepulciano. This medieval gem is rich in history, art, and Etruscan lore, but is perhaps best known for producing one of Italy’s most prestigious wines: the robust Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. You’ll have time to explore its steep, narrow streets and perhaps sample this celebrated wine at a local cantina (wine cellar).

The true taste of Tuscany awaits at a lunch in a typical restaurant, included for you to savor authentic regional flavors paired with local wines.

After lunch, enjoy some free time to soak in the last breathtaking views of the Tuscan countryside before we continue our journey. In the evening, we arrive back in the Eternal City of Rome, where you will check into your hotel for the night.

This trip was so much fun for me. Even though I traveled by myself, my group was great and made me feel like I was always a part of it. There was a great mix of activities, and our tour guide Matteo made sure everything went smoothly. He was also always happy to help us plan what to do in our free time.
